On Tuesday 29th March 2016 I attended the 26th Installation of the new Worshipful Master of Berkshire Provincial Grand Stewards’ Lodge 9381, at the Berkshire Masonic Centre in Sindlesham, near Reading.
I attended the Installation last year when Robert Faulkner was Installed at Master, and the ceremony was attended by the Pro Grand Master, Peter Geoffry Lowndes; so it was good to go back and see Robert install his successor, John Stocker.
One of the great things with Stewards’ Lodge is the quality of the ritual – in order to be a member (and you are invited by Province) your ritual must be good. And of course at the Installation the pressure is really on for those taking part in the ceremony.
Fortunately the ritual from start to finish was very well done, and good to see it performed competently.
It was also good to see the newer members of Berkshire Stewards’ Lodge doing the perambulations and presenting the Working Tools. Although all of these have been through the Chair of their mother Lodges it as evident some were having to control their nerves.
After the ceremony the Festive Board was in the large Flavell Suite, where we were treated to a smoked mackerel pate, chicken in stilton cheese sauce and followed by lemon meringue pie, and approximately 200 dined.
